Wee P Van Damm and PeeLiza Doolittle.
I’ve never been terribly cautious about what P watches on TV. Mostly, this is because P polices herself fairly well and only watches a handful of what I consider to be age-appropriate cartoons. Her current favorites are Max and Ruby, Curious George, Little Bear, and Calliou, and other than my occasional concerns about how some of these shows present gender roles (can’t Ruby do anything but nag?), I’m not too bothered by P’s TV viewing.
Wee P, on the other hand, concerns me. Or, more accurately, her father concerns me. I walked in last night and saw this.
If there’s any question about what that character’s fate was, here’s the next scene.
Good lord!
In other news, P and her preschool classmates had their very first public performance on Friday night and sang a variety of Christmas songs for a community-wide holiday program. I was confused about the performance date and was certain it was scheduled for Saturday night. By the time I figured out my error, I panicked, realizing I had a total of 15 minutes to transform this street urchin
into this.
Not even Henry Higgins himself could compete with my powers of transformation. Don’t you agree? Of course, there were some small details I missed, so I’m thrilled she’s hiding her fingers in the shot above.
Wee P thoroughly enjoyed watching her big sister’s big show.
I could tell Wee P was feeling somewhat protective of her sister throughout the performance, and given the moves she’s likely picked up from her nightly TV viewing with her dad, had anyone within earshot muttered anything about the filthy nails on the little girl in the black and pink jumper, I fear this might have been the poor fool’s fate.
Wishing you all a happy, peaceful holiday season!

So I was trying to tell Julia, Kelly Huffman, and Kevin Navin your kid’s names at a Christmas Party on Sat. and all I could come up with was “Parker” and “Wee P.” Help.
Cecelia is singing in a program Friday. I can’t wait to see her!

I used to absolutely flip out over the stuff Peter let Lily watch when she was an infant. Horror to the max. Luckily, as she got older, I think he started to realize that she “got it” and that it could scare her…But it took so much freaking nagging on my part. Ugh.
(Our current battle is “Resolved: That two-year-olds should not listen to Howard Stern on the radio.” I’m winning.)

Lara:
I remember once watching a zombie movie with Parker — at one point she turned to me, laughing, and said “that guy’s head just blew up!” (someone had blown a zombie’s head off with a shotgun and the headless body just stood there for a few seconds). It was pretty funny.

Chris, that made me laugh. Thanks
Sometimes I have to be reminded that not everyone is a total baby about horror and gore!

A yes, Max & Ruby is really a master piece by Rosemary Wells. Those lovable bunnies are a true hit in our household. They teach respect, caring, and good manners. I have no problem with letting my child view this program. The other day, I rewarded my son with Max & Ruby backpack. A true hit amongst his pre-school buddies.
